Sorry for no post lately, for the first time since starting this blog, I have to say that I just haven’t had any desire to. I can say that I have officially hit the point in my pregnancy that I am TIRED. It also doesn’t help that Jaxson is no longer doing naps (most days), but instead doing an hour of quiet time, which is for my mental state rather than for him. However, he is going to bed at 7:30, which is very nice, but it makes for long afternoons. I have also hit the point where sleeping is not very comfortable anymore. I am limited to two positions, the left side or the right side, which stinks because I usually sleep on my back. With my pregnancy with Jaxson, I never had a hard time sleeping. I was sleeping through the night without waking up until the very last day, but like my midwife keeps telling me, "Remember Stephanie, things are always different with a second pregnancy." Boy is she right. Anyways, on to some more fun stuff that’s been going on here very recently. Lastnight, we went to Pump It Up for Rebecca Hinderaker’s 4th birthday party. Becca is the daughter of my high school friends Clint and Rachel Hinderaker. We had such a great time. It is a large place with a lot of huge blow up bounce houses/slides/games. Not only did the kiddos have fun, but so did the adults. I had a bit of jealousy when Brad was able to do all of the fun stuff with Jaxson and go through the obstacle course with him. It was also fun to see Jaxson and Becca interact with each other; they are so cute together. Today, we had the Barrons and the Learys over to watch the Iowa game. Not quite the outcome that we wanted, but the end score was much better than I thought it would be. They played much better than I thought they would, which gives me hope for their last game against Minnesota. Some more exciting news is that we are really working hard on the potty training this weekend. Jaxson was in big boy underwear all day and did a GREAT job with telling us when he had to go potty. He even went on his own one time and told us afterwards. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that he continues to do so well. Tomorrow it’s off to church and more family time

Today, Jaxson and I headed to Backyard Adventures for his friend, Morgen’s, 4th birthday party. A lot of his friends were there so they had a great time playing, eating, and watching Morgen open her presents.

Jaxson, Grandma Pam, and I went downtown to the last Farmer’s Market of the season on Saturday despite it being quite cold. What can I say, the pregnant lady had to stock up on her favorite bread before the end of the season. Jaxson had a good time being pulled around in the wagon and riding the train, but soon informed me that he was cold and we headed home.

Last night we had our neighbors, Matt, Ann, Miah and Amisha over to carve our pumpkins that we had gotten a couple weeks ago at the pumpkin patch. We had a great time and the kids LOVED seeing them lit up.

I bet you can guess who did the Tiger hawk (Brad), mine is the scary/funny looking face, I carved Jaxson’s in the front, Ann did Amisha’s pumpkin and Matt did Miah’s on the far right. We were pretty proud of the results.

Our good friends Mike and Brandy welcomed their third son, Gavin, yesterday morning. Brandy had a home birth that went fantastic and everyone is doing well. Jack and Benjamin seem to like their baby brother so far. We got to see the newest Case Haub this evening and he’s adorable. Jaxson seemed to like "Baby Avin" too. I asked him if he wants a baby brother like Gavin and he said, "No, I want two baby brothers." Oh boy, let’s just start with one for now.

Our meal swap story aired four times today on Channel 13 and I have to say that it was put together very well. They spent a lot more time on it than I thought they would and they even brought Jeriann into the conversation and she talked about how we also have desserts and "beverages." If you don’t live in the Des Moines area, here is the story that they put on their website. It’s not the same thing that was aired, but it’s similar.
Solution To Dinner Dilemma

Preparing meals to exchange (WHO)
Many parents dread the question: what’s for dinner tonight? A group of metro neighbors came up with a solution to the nightly dinner dilemma. They take turns hosting a monthly meal night.
Brandy Case Haub says, "We just open up our houses and we bring all the meals and sit and talk and drink wine or non-alcoholic wine and have dessert." Case Haub started the group of seven neighbors about seven months ago. The ladies get together each month to swap meals.
She says, "It’s a great time saver. Instead of coming up with ideas for dinner every day, day after day, and it’s a money saver too. And, it’s also just a lot of fun to get together with people in your neighborhood."
The moms spend about an hour to an hour and a half in the kitchen once a month. They freeze the meals, include heating instructions and bring the goods to the monthly meal exchange. They go home with seven dinners to thaw and throw in the oven the next few weeks. The only rule: Keep it simple, healthy and cheap. Member Stephanie Cathcart says, "We usually buy generic, but stay healthy, try and stay as healthy as we can, but we buy in bulk and generic and we can usually do it for $30."
Cathcart says it’s fun to see what her neighbors dish up each month. And, she says it’s fun to know they’re not only feeding their families, but also someone in need. She says, "The eighth meal is going to go to somebody in need that a gal in the group knows that feels like she could use, her and her family could use some freezer meals this month."
The ladies say meal favorites include enchiladas, burritos and anything with pasta.

Today was our first trip to the Science Center and boy did we have a good time. Jaxson and I went with my friend/neighbor, Crystal, and her two kids, Morgan and Peyton, and also with Jack and Ben and their nanny. The kids had a great time playing with all of the cool displays and running off all of their energy. We also got to see Jeriann in action doing the noon news from the Science Center, which was very neat. The kids got to be on TV and much to my surprise they all behaved while on TV. They just stood there and waved the whole time. I was so paranoid that Jaxson might start making his silly faces and slapping his butt like he does at home when he looks at himself in the mirror becuase he was watching himself the whole time on a TV screen, but he didn’t thank goodness. Here’s some pics from our fun day.

Since my friend, Erika, and her family are here from Texas for a couple weeks, we decided to have a little get together. The third of us three amigas is Jill, who now lives in Rochester. As most of you know, Jill and I have been best friends since birth, pretty much inseparable growing up. Erika was a friend growing up also, but we became very close in high school and have remained close even though moving all the way down south. When she is back, all three of us try to get together at least once to hang out. This time we hung out at my mom’s house. We enjoyed some fabulous Casey’s pizza for lunch. Yes, I think us Iowans take this for granted because they do not have Casey’s in Texas or taco pizza. Crazy. . . I know. After lunch the kids had a fabulous time on the slip-n-slide. Jaxson and Barrett are only two months apart and they had a blast together. It was so cute to watch them play. And Little Evelyn (Evie), she is petite, but she sure can hang in there with the older boys. What a tough little cookie she is. It was a fabulous day getting to spend time with the girls.

Doing a happy dance.

Now that’s how you do the slip-n-slide
